A Concerned Citizen and Construction Expert from Wa in the Upper West Region has expressed concern over delays in execution of Wa-Sawla Asphalt Project by Messrs Meripoma Enterprise since the Contract was rewarded to him in November 2025.

Mr. Prince Al-Gadafi Pelpuo has revealed that the Contractor, Messrs Meripoma Enterprise is Occupied with Over 10 Contracts giving the Wa-Sawla Road Project the least of Attention.

“The gospel truth is that: Maripoma alone has secured more than 10 BIG PUSH contracts and finding it difficult to execute. And I think he has put upper west on least of his projects.

Plus he is same contractor that is awarded Wa airport again.”

Initially in November 2024, the Akufo-Addo Administration Awarded the Wa-Sawla Road Project to Messrs Meripoma Enterprise after which the New Patriot Party Lost the 2024 General Elections to the National Democratic Congress.

A Sod Cutting Ceremony was held in November 2025 at Sawla in the Savannah Region where President John Dramani Mahama Awarded the Wa-Sawla Asphalt Road Project on Contract to Messrs Meripoma Enterprise.

Very little work has begun after five Months (November till End of April)

Some concerned youth have expressed interest in holding a street match and demonstration over the delays in Construction of the Road to enhance economic Activities.

On Sunday, 3rd May 2026, Mr. Yussif Baba, CEO of Bahass Foundation called for an Emergency Meeting at the Basket Ball Court in Wa over a Planned Demonstration over the State of Wa-Sawla Road.
