NANDOM NAA INSPECTS DISPUTED LANDS AT ST. THERESA’S HOSPITAL, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO OUT-OF-COURT SETTLEMENT

Nandom, Upper West Region – Nandom Naa NAA PROF. EDMUND NMINYEM DELLE CHIIR VIII embarked on a working visit to St. Theresa’s Hospital, Nandom, as part of his ongoing efforts to resolve outstanding land disputes within the Traditional Area through dialogue and mediation.

As part of the visit, His Royal Majesty seized the opportunity to inspect portions of land currently under litigation between the Hospital and the landowners. The matter, along with other cases, was referred by the Circuit Court to the Nandom Naa for out-of-court settlement at his request.

In his remarks, Nandom Naa commended the land grant made by his predecessor, Naa Dr. Puobe Puo-ire, to St. Theresa’s Hospital. He described the grant as “laudable and visionary,” noting that the Hospital is set to become a Teaching Hospital in the near future and will require adequate land for expansion and future infrastructural projects.

However, His Royal Majesty also expressed concern over the failure to fully involve the landowners at the time of the original grant. He emphasized that sustainable development must balance community interest, traditional land rights, and institutional growth.

Following the inspection at the Hospital, Nandom Naa and his entourage toured some ongoing development projects within the Nandom Municipality.

The delegation also visited a site near the St. Theresa’s Hospital canteen, which is subject to separate litigation between Mafuz and Nandom Parish. This site forms part of the cases currently before the Mediation Committee constituted by the Nandom Naa for amicable settlement, pursuant to the Circuit Court’s directive.

Nandom Naa reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all land disputes are resolved fairly, peacefully, and in a manner that preserves unity and promotes development in Nandom. He urged all parties to cooperate fully with the Mediation Committee as it works towards lasting solutions to the issues.
Nandom Naa also visited his alma mater, Naa Polkuu Primary School, established in 1943, where he attended in 1949. He called on all old students to unite and support the school’s development. He described the school land as a gift from his father, Delle. HRM Naa Prof. Edmund Nminyem Delle Chiir VIII, also inspected ongoing development projects in Nandom Municipality.
