Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has commended a contractor from the Upper West Region, Astee Construction Limited for consistently delivering ahead of schedule and voluntarily supporting adjoining communities.

Mr Agbodza described the contractor as one of the region’s “rising stars” in the construction industry, praising his commitment to quality service and community development.

Astee Construction Limited is the primary contractor upgrading the 37.00 km to 74.00 km section of the Wa–Bulenga–Yaala road under the government’s “Big Push” infrastructure programme.

The project reached 27% completion, placing it ahead of schedule. Completed works include earthworks, formation filling, box culverts, and U-drains.

He said the contractor had proved himself from the time the government first awarded him a project, consistently staying ahead of schedule in executing his assignments.

“I want to eulogize him. Your Excellency, from the very first day we gave him work, he is always ahead of schedule,” Mr Agbodza said.

The Minister made the remarks during President John Dramani Mahama’s ResettingGhanaTour in the Upper West Region on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The Minister further praised the contractor for going beyond the scope of his contractual obligations to address road challenges affecting nearby communities.

According to him, whenever residents of adjoining communities raise concerns about poor road sections leading to their villages, the contractor voluntarily steps in to assist, even when those sections are not included in his contract.

“Whenever he is working and adjoining communities say this portion leading to our village, there is a problem on it, even though that is not part of his work, he moves in to try to help them,” he said.

Mr Agbodza noted that the contractor’s interventions extend beyond the Upper West Region to the Upper East Region, describing his approach as an example that should inspire other contractors and stakeholders.

“He does this from Upper West all the way to Upper East regions. And this is something you will inspire all of us to do,” h added.
