The National Democratic Congress in the Upper West Region has called on the outgoing Upper West Regional minister, Alhassan Sulemana to cease holding himself as regional minister.

“We are asking the government to expeditiously fill the power vacuum their ineptitude has created in the Upper West and also to be more specific on the status of Hon Alhassan Sulemana whose faith appears to be in limbo. Until his faith is decided, we call on Hon Alhassan to cease holding himself as Regional Minister,” the NDC said in a press release signed by the regional communication officer, Puo-ire Prosper on Wednesday, 6 March 2019.

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC)
UPPER WEST REGIONAL SECRETARAIT
PRESS RELEASE
6th March, 2019
As we commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the independence of this great nation, we wish to join scores of countless Ghanaians in extending our warm wishes to all Upper Westners in particular and by extension to all Ghanaians.
The celebrations of such important milestones afford us the opportunity to reflect on our cherished values and to pursue the core ideals of peace, hospitality, tolerance and patriotism that has kept us together all these years as a closely knitted society.
We appreciate the zeal and readiness with which the good people of Upper West support such national engagements. It is however disappointing to note that, the 62nd independence anniversary celebration in the Upper West was largely a pale shadow of what these celebrations have previously been.
We need no soothsaying to discern that, the low euphoria as experienced across the Region this year is underpinned by their weaning trust and good will in the Nana Addo’s led administration emanating from the litany of deceptions and the deliberate truncation of development projects that were being pursued by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the NDC.
The confusion, ineptitude and indecisiveness of this government was dramatized in Nandom this morning when the dismissed Regional Minister, Hon Alhassan Sulemana still stood in for the Presidential salute.
We are aware that, a letter from the Communications Directorate of the Presidency, written on 28th February, 2019 and signed by Mr. Eugene Arhin was explicit in Appointing Dr. Hafis Bin Salih as Regional Minister Designate with immediate effect. We have also observed the absolute silence of the Presidency in mentioning the new assignment of Mr. Sulemana as stated in the release. The ambiguity of that release creates a power vacuum in the Upper West Region and that has potential adverse effects on our already struggling development.
We are asking the government to expeditiously fill the power vacuum their ineptitude has created in the Upper West and also to be more specific on the status of Hon Alhassan Sulemana whose faith appears to be in limbo. Until his faith is decided, we call on Hon Alhassan to cease holding himself as Regional Minister.
We wish all our Country Men and Women a blissful celebration.
Thank you
…Signed…
Puo-ire Prosper
