
The Dafiama-Bussie-Issa District formerly Nadowli East was established in 2004 with Mr. Mathias Puozaa Asoma as it’s first Member of Parliament with 4,789 votes representing 49.4% , His first contest was against Mr. Robert Dassah who Polled 4,676 votes representing 48.2%, Nomas Banoebara Tengbani of PNC Polled 165 votes representing 1.7% whilst Mr. George Tiesah Azaadong Polled 66 votes representing 0.7% and later stepped Down for Dr. Sebastian Sandare who contested Lawyer Lwanga Bogonluri of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)and Won in 2016.
Dafiama-Bussie-Issa District was part of the Nadowli District established in 1992 before it was carved out.
The President of Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, Dikomwini Domalae is from the District. People of Dafiama moved from Busa in the Wa Municipality to Dafiama According to Naa Dikomwini in a Speech Delivered at Busa.
The District has a Petrochemical Engineer by Name Justin Yelvielbayire Kantavuuro, he is a Graduate of the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University formerly Wa Polytechnic. He has been Able to Produce fuel from Plastic Waste and as a result has travelled round several parts of the World. He hasn’t gotten enough support from his district, investors or stakeholders from the area in order to create jobs and free the environment from plastic waste.

Justice Yoni Kulendi is one of the Greatest Figures of Dafiama-Bussie-Issa District, He is currently one of the Supreme Court Judges of Ghana.
The District Can Boast of One Senior High School which is Dafiama Senior High School in Dafiama, One Technical School by Name Youth Leadership Training Institute(YLTI), under the Supervision of the National Youth Authority.
It has Two Busy Markets, ie. Busie Market and the Dafiama Market. It shares Boundaries with other Districts including Nadowli-Kaleo, Wa East, Jirapa, Sissala East, Sissala West and Wa Municipality. Most People of Dafiama-Bussie-Issa District are Dagaaba, with Significant number of Gonjas and Sissala.
Dafiama-Bussie-Issa has the Least Population in the Region with a population of 38,754 people According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census 18,923 Men and 19,831 Women.
It’s First DCE was Mr. Abu Kanbeubata Kamsangabata, a Business Man and owner of Grand Hyatt Lodge in the Wa Municipality.
The District Has No Advanced Educational Institutions such as Teacher Training Colleges, Nursing Training Colleges, Private Universities etc. It also has no media House such as Radio Station, TV or Print Media.

Mathias Asoma Puozaa
Mathias Asoma Puozaa hails from Touri also in his constituency. Born on 10 January 1948, he was educated at the Daffiamma Roman Catholic School, St. Charles Secondary School, University of Ghana and the University of Glasgow.
He worked with the Institute of Adult Education (University of Ghana) until he was elected MP in 2004. He retained the seat in the 2008 general elections.
He is the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education. Mr. Puozaa is married to Leonicia Bataanie with five children.
