Road project in Upper West Region

In May, the Upper West Regional Minister Announced Plans for works to begin on the Tumu-Lawra-Han Road as approved by the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

The Regional Coordinating Council later announced that the Sod Cutting which will involve the Vice President Dr. Bawumia wasn’t going to be possible on the 25th of May Set aside for the Occasion.

Contractors are set to begin works on the Road on the 8th of June 2022 even though the Sod Cutting couldn’t take place according to the Regional Minister in an Interview on Home Radio.

A new date which is 12th June 2022 has been set aside for the sod cutting ceremony which is to involve the Vice President Dr. Mohamudu Bawumia.

The New Date was revealed by Special Aide to the Regional Minister, Bipuah Mohammed to Upperwestmedia Team on the 6th of June 2022.

“New date now confirmed.
H.E the Vice President of Ghana would be in the Upper West region to cut sod for the construction of the Tumu – Hain-Lawra Highway on Sunday 12th June 2022 in Tumu at 2:00pm
Thanks you”.

The Tumu-Lawra-Han road is an Economic road linking Three Municipalities in the Upper West Region,the road has seen no major maintenance works for the past 20years.
