The Vice chancellor of Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies(SDD-UBIDS), Prof Philip Duku Osei has gifted society almost Ghc800, 000 during the school’s 2021/2022 academic year.
The University which is located in the Upper West Region offered free forms to students to apply and as a result the school was able to admit 4,372 fresh students to pursue various courses at the school for its 2021/2022 academic year.
A form for an Undergraduate program is sold at Ghc180 by the University, this means if 4, 372 were to pay Ghc180 each to acquire a form, that will be Ghc180 multiplied by 4, 372 which is Ghc 786, 960.
The University has given back Seven Hundred and Eighty Six Thousand, Nine Hundred Sixty Ghana cedis Back to the society by making forms free.
This has increased access to education in the University, several Student interviewed by Upper West Media Team Urged other Universities to emulate the examples of the Vice Chancellor to make education accessible, several individuals have challenges accessing funds to buy forms, a development that is depriving several students of accessible education.
The Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development STUDIES SDD-UBIDS was established by ACT 1001 of Parliament and came into being in May 2020 with its main campus in the Upper West regional capital, Wa . The school was formally under the University for Development Studies(UDS) classified as “UDS Wa campus”.
SDD-UBIDS commenced with top-notched academic programmes under five faculties which include: the Faculty of Integrated Development Studies, the Faculty of Planning and Land Management, the Faculty of Social Science and Arts as well as the Faculty of Public Policy and Governance.
The rests are the School of Business and the School of Education and Life-Long Learning.
These faculties according to the Vice-Chancellor will help propel the school to become an outstanding international-acclaimed applied research and practically oriented University.
