Our MPs can’t visit their constituencies without holding at least Ghc25,000 – Mustapha Goveir

Upper West Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, Mustapha Goveir has stated clearly that Members of parliament cant come home for a visit without holding at least Ghc25,000. He said this is due to the unending demands of the constituents he has to satisfy. ” Taking for instance our member of Parliament for Wa central Rashid Pelpuo can’t come home if he doesn’t carry so much money on him, he has to fuel his car which won’t take less than Ghc1000 also people will visit him with naming ceremony demands, school fees and other undisclosed proposals which has to be met for political reasons”.
He made this comment when he was asked if Members of parliament should have an increase in the salaries as proposed by the current majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonus in Parliament Lately.
Presently Members of Parliament take home Ghc13000 which 130million old cedis monthly.
