Nandom Senior High School in Upper West Region has applied to run the conventional single-stream system in place of the new double track system.
Headmaster of the school, Rev. Bro.

Joachim Naah, said nothing much had changed in the school in terms of numbers of fresh admissions, and believed the school could revert to the traditional system without hitches.
He said he was hoping for a favourable response from the Ghana Education Service to restore the first year students to the old system.

Rev. Bro. Naah told Graphic Online on the side-lines of the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations of last Friday.
According to him, the school admitted just 327 first-year students at the start of the new academic year – just 27 above the average 300 new admissions recorded in previous years.
With an average of 300 admissions for first years over the period, splitting the current 327 first years into the yellow and gold tracks under the double track system reduces population on campus by about 165 at every point in time.

But Rev. Bro. Naah said the new policy does not make any significant difference.
“We don’t think the new admissions make too significant difference to our total population, so we can run the traditional system for the entire school,” he said.
“That is why we have applied to the authorities to allow us run the old system all through instead of the double track system for the first year students,” he explained.
“We are challenged in terms of our facilities, but we can cope with the traditional single track system since our numbers have not changed considerably,” he added.
Government introduced the double track system at the start of the 2018/2019 academic year as a temporary solution to the increase in intake due to the Free Senior High School policy.
