Wa: Rainstorm Destroys Properties Worth Millions of Cedis

Rainstorm causes Damages in Wa

A grievous Rainstorm experienced in most parts of Wa has caused mayhem in the Regional Capital.

The Storm start early hours of 8:00 PM on the 5th of April 2020 and lasted for 1 hour.

Several residents had their Roofs Ripped off by the heavy wind accompanying the rains whilst some public properties including street light poles were pushed down.

Three Street light poles summing up to approximately Ghc15,000 were pushed down due to pressure exerted on them through some Assembly posts fastened on the poles. These posters makes it difficult for the fiber poles to resist pressure form such intensity of Wind.

Nuriya Islamic School Located in Dankpalihi Street also had parts of its roof carried away by the Rainstorm.

Several people have called on the Upper West Regional Office of the Ghana Meteorological Agency headed by S.K Gyekye to be proactive rather than reactive to such situations.

The National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO) is yet to Attend to the Issue.
