Open Letter to MCE for Sissala East: Hon. Karim Nanyua

MCE, Sissala East, Karim Nanyua

Dear Sir,
REQUEST FOR ANSWERS TO SOME BASIC QUESTIONS RINGING BELLS IN THE MINDS OF MANY A PEOPLE IN SISSALA EAST.
I bring you greetings from the NDC communication secretariat in Tumu the Municipal Capital. I am simply seeking answers to a number basic questions drawn from five thematic areas namely;
1. Roads
2. Power /electricity
3. Health
4. Water and
5. Agriculture
ROADS
First and foremost, I will like to thank you and your government for listening to the several calls to open up Tumu town roads. There is no doubt that the roads will improve the economy of the Municipal Capital to a large extent but you will agree with me that work has stopped giving rise to many questions some of which includes the following ;
1. When will work commence on the Tumu – Dimajan Road?
2. When will work resume on the Tumu Town Roads?
3. When do you intend opening up the Moshie Zongo Road?
POWER /ELECTRICITY
Another area of concern is power. It is expected that electricity be extended to newly developed areas within the Municipality every five years but the extention of electricity to such areas is largely left to individuals in those areas. The question on this area is, What is your agenda to effectively extend electricity to all newly developed areas in Tumu in particular?
HEALTH
The health of the people can not be joked with hence your government has made a lot campaign promises in the area of health during the 2016 general elections. Key amongst them is making the National Health insurance effective and working. The President in all his States of the Nation Addresses to parliament told Ghanaians that NHS is working effectively.
My question in all of this is, if Health Insurance is as effective as your government wants us to believe, why are there many top-ups at the Tumu Municipal Hospital?
WATER AND SANITATION
The sanitation situation in Tumu is nothing to write home about. Open defication is still rampant within the Municipal Capital against the bye-laws of the Assembly. The question is, what are you doing to prevent any possible outbreak of diseases?
On the other hand, With the coming on board the Community water system, water supply has not been too bad but the water bills have been too high over the years. Let me remind you that When the NDC was leaving office, one M3 of water was ghc 2.00.00 but the current charge per M3 is ghc 5.00.00 an increment of 150 percent in less than four years.
Hon. Karim, why did you and the assembly approved this astronomical tariffs for the Community water?
AGRICULTURE
The people of Sissala East are predominantly farmers. The planting for food and jobs programme by a very laudable one but its implementation has been a big problem for you and the government. Last year, farmers went through a lot hell to get farm inputs which should not be the case under normal conditions and you very well know that as a fact. Against this background, what measures are you putting in place to make sure that farmers do not go through any kind of hell to get fertilizer for their farms this season?
Hon, how will farmers benefit directly from the Tractors under your care?
Lastly, when will government extend the rearing for food and jobs program to Sissala East?
CONCLUSION
I conclude with a summary of the basic questions awaiting your response.
1 When will work commence on the Tumu-Dimajang Road?
2. When will work resume on the Tumu Town Roads?
3. When do you intend opening up the Moshie Zongo Road?
4 What is your agenda to effectively extend electricity to all newly developed areas in Tumu?
5. Why are there several top-ups at the Tumu Municipal Hospital if your government claims that NHIS is working effectively?
6. What are you doing to prevent any outbreak of diseases taking the poor sanitary conditions into consideration?
7. Why did you and the assembly approve ghc 5.00 per M3 tariffs for the Community water?
8. What measures are you putting in place to make sure that farmers do not go through any form of hell to get.
