The Member of Parliament for the Wa East constituency, Hon. Godfred Bayong Tangu donated Personal Protective Equipment and others items worth GHC60,000 to the Wa East District Health Directorate to help the fight against the deadly novel coronavirus.
Addressing the media, Hon. Godfred Bayoung Tangu MP for Wa East Constituency says providing and protecting his constituents are his top priorities of which he cannot countenance any stumbling block that faces it, hence the need for his outfit to come to the aid of his people in these trying times.
He revealed that, after the announcement of the lock down of Accra and Kumasi, some citizens of the Wa East constituency got stranded at Agbogbloshie a suburb of Accra in the greater Accra region after the president imposed the restriction of movement of people in and around Greater Accra and Greater Kumansi and in the bid of these constituents who were mainly Kayaayies to travel back to Wa East they got stranded on the way as the roads were blocked and as the Member of parliament he stepped in and provided them with accommodation and food they can depend on till the end of the restriction stressing that, the situation has delayed him in coming to Wa East.
He added, he was catering for those stranded alongside mobilising PPEs to be sent to the Wa East constituency to help fight the course hence the reason for today’s donation. The MP said the NDC should have taken a second look at their statement before telling the public that he was missing adding that, he took part at the last parliamentary sitting that was immediately called for the approval of the stabilisation fund and would have appreciated it if the NDC had inquired about all these before making their publication.
The items donated comprised 213 veronica buckets, 213 dustbins, 213 liquid soap, 213 washing bowls, 2000 examination gloves, 250 face masks as well as 14 boxes of hand sanitizers and other assorted items costing about GHC60,000.00.
