Upper West Minister Details Source of New Cases

Dr. Bin Salih At the New Regional Hospital

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has come out clear on the source of six new COVID-19 cases recorded in the Region.

According to the Minister, the New cases were imported from deferent places, one from Western Region and five from outside the country. He denied the fact that the five cases were as a result of the previous case recorded.

Statement

Our region has recorded 7 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and this is alarming. Of the 6 new cases, 5 are imported cases from abroad while one returned from Western Region. Health officials in the region are monitoring and supervising all the seven COVID-19 patients. Those who came from abroad, entered the country before our borders were closed. Their details at the airport in Accra were used by officials of Ghana Immigration Service to trace them after which their samples were taken by health officials.
Let me reiterate that this far, test results for samples from contacts of the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the region have proved negative. The 6 new cases have no link with the first confirmed case.
This week, some medical experts shall be in the region to help in case management of CSM cases. We have enough medication to handle CSM cases in the region. It should be noted that there is no vaccine for meningitis serotype x that has emerged in the meningitis belt in Africa. Early medical attention is what is required in our fight against CSM.
We should therefore urge our people to seek early medical attention when they begin to have headache, feel feverish and/or stiffness in the neck.
Together we shall succeed.
