NDC CONDEMNS GRUESOME OF MOBILE MONEY VENDOR : CALL ON THE MUSEC TO WORK ON DECAYED SECURITY IN JIRAPA.
The National Democratic Congress in Jirapa constituency learnt with utmost shock the gruesome murder of a genuine enterprising mobile money vendor and one other injured on Thursday, 21st May, 2020 at about 8 :30pm
We condemn this very inhumane act in no uncertain terms and call on the security agencies not to relent in their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this most heinous crime.
While commiserating with the entire bereaved family and all victims who have suffered in the hands of criminals in Jirapa, we wish to express our worry over the decayed security and the seeming lack of concern for the peace and safety of the people in Jirapa.
It is sad to note that the state of security in Jirapa has declined below imagination since the assumption of office of the NPP Government.
Recounting latest incidents of crimes , In a spate of a month, we have as a municipality recorded a worrying number of cases of great crimes which have left every citizen of Jirapa worried and unsafe to run his or her daily life activities.
Not too long ago, a tutor of the Jirapa Community Health Nurses Training School was robbed of a sum of Gh¢12,500.00 along the Duori-Jirapa Road.
Also, a man was shot thrice along the Bachoglo-Jeffiri Road. Fortunately, the victim survived after seeking medical services at the St Joseph Hospital.
As if these are not enough, a woman was physically brutalized with a Cutlass and on top of that was raped around a community called Nyenni. This development has created so much insecurity especially for women.
Similar cases of armed robbery have been recorded across the length and breadth of the municipality.
The NDC is so much worried over the exceedingly rampant cases of crimes in Jirapa.
The NDC fraternity in Jirapa cannot fathom why enough actions are not been put in place by the Hon. Christine Amadu Bombanye led NPP government in Jirapa to arrest this rising menace.
We have also observed with great worry the unprecedented darkness cast over Jirapa as a result of dysfunctional streets lights. We call on the Hon. Christine Bombanye -led Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) to immediately repair all the street lights in town and at vantage points in the communities in Jirapa to match the Municipal status it has been elevated to. We further recommend that more street lights are placed at dark places in town which have become the hideout of miscreants.
We also call on the Assembly to give the police department in Jirapa the necessary support it needs to curb if not eliminate the rising cases of crimes in the Jirapa municipality.
