Collapsed Prisons Wall in Wa
A Building wall of the Ghana Prisons Service in Upper West Region of Ghana has collapsed after a heavy wind.
The Rains accompanying a storm pushed the wall down early evening today Sunday 18th August 2020.
No prisoners escaped according to information from the Prisons service.
The Wall has since not been attended to as efforts are being made to contact the Building contractor based in Wa Municipality to attend to the latest development.
Within the collapsed walls is a prison school, which is attended by some prisoners as efforts to equip inmates with relevant skills to be useful when they leave the prisons in the near future.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih who doubles as Chairman of the Upper West Regional Coordinating council(RCC) referred to he development as unfortunate urging for calm as he assured the issue will be fixed in due course. The Deputy Upper West Minister was also in Wallembelle in the Sissala East Municipality same day where he donated an undisclosed amount of money and a Motorbike to the Ghana Police Service to combat crime in the area.
