Upper West Covid-19 Cases now 498

At least three more persons have died of COVID-19 taking Ghana’s death toll to 783, a Ghana Health Service (GHS) update has stated.

The country’s active cases now stands at 1,583  after 34 new coronavirus cases were confirmed at the laboratories.

As at 2 May 2021, the GHS reports that the country’s total confirmed cases increased to 92, 828 out of which 90, 462 have recovered.

So far, 24  cases have been classified as severe while six  remain critical, according to GHS.

At the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) 1,651 cases have been detected with 1,433 recoveries so far.

Greater Accra Region – 51,123

Ashanti Region – 15,523

Western Region – 5,836

Eastern Region – 4,178

Central Region – 3,383

Volta Region – 2,467

Northern Region – 1,654

Bono East Region – 1,430

Bono Region – 1,398

Upper East Region – 1,319

Western North Region – 874

Ahafo Region – 712

Upper West Region – 498

Oti Region – 422

North East Region – 228

Savannah Region – 122

Importation of COVID-19 cases

Meanwhile, Dr Lawrence Lartey, director of Port Health at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), says measures are in place to halt the importation of COVID-19 cases into the country through the airport.
