After the 2021 Population and Housing Census,the Wa West District has become the Second Most Populated District behind Wa Municipality with a Total Population of 96,957.

Wa West District has More men Than Women, the total number of Women in Wa West per the Population Census is 55,077 whilst men are 48,880 a difference of 6,197.

Wa Municipality which is the Regional Capital has a Population of 200,672.

Wa West District was created alongside the Wa East District in 2004 from the Previous Wa District, the First Member of Parliament for Wa West District was Hon. Jospeh Yieleh Chireh, he was Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2016 before he lost the Parliamentary Primaries ahead of the 2020 elections to Hon. Rtd Peter Lanchene Toobu, a Retired Police Officer.

Majority of Residents in Wa West are Farmers, it has a vast land stretching towards the Savannah Region of Ghana, Wa West shares borders with International Communities such as Burkina Faso in the West.

The Upper West Region has a Population of 901,502.
