The Upper West Regional Director of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Ahmed Mustapha has expressed displeasure with service delivery within the Wa Municipal Psychiatrist Hospital, in an interview with Yirimambo Advocacy Team, he explained how his wife nearly lost her life due to negligence of some staff of the hospital.
“I returned from NANDOM this evening, at about 8-9pm on 23rd of April 2022, after taking my bath I went to pray and heard a loud voice, I rushed inside to see my wife on the floor crying, I rushed her to the wa Municipal hospital and to my surprise a nurse told me to go and bring a folder before he will attend to the patient, honestly, i angrily told him to attend to her because it’s emergency but the nurse and the staff insisted I bring it before, I reminded them this is an emergency that needs an immediate attention but they refused so I went and brought the folder yet still my wife was left unattended to. I had no choice then to send her to homeland clinic, a private health facility. The Doctor on duty attended to her without asking those ‘useless’ questions about folder Insah Allah her condition is getting stable at homeland.
Our public health centers need to be re engaged on the need to place emergency issues as Grievous fettle.”
