The Member of Parliament for the Lawra constituency in the Upper West Region, Hon. Bede Anwataazumo Ziedeng, has called on Management of the Simon Diedong Dumbo University for Business and Integrated Development Studies to work hard and take advantage of the uncapping of the GETfund to get some uncompleted buildings of the University fixed.
According to the MP, the majority of the University’s uncompleted buildings would have been completed by GETfund if not for the capping of the fund by the Nana Addo led NPP administration.
He said for 8 years, the GETfund has been starved of its funds rendering it incapable of solving the infrastructural needs of the various schools in the country.
The Lawra MP emphasized that, the uncapping of the fund by the Mahama led NDC administration made separate provisions for basic education, second cycle education as well as tertiary education.
The Former Upper West Regional Minister further assured the University community of the Upper West MPs caucus’s commitment of standing strongly and making a case for the University to realize the needed development it deserves.
He made the call during an engagement meeting between the Upper West MPs caucus and Management of the University community on April 8, 2025 at the University’s campus.
The Upper West MPs caucus has resolved to meet with some key institutions in the region to have first hand information of their challenges and to see how best they can collectively advocate on behalf of those institutions to get their problems solve.
