Wa, Upper West Region โ€“ April 26, 2026 โ€“ The Speaker of Parliament has donated GHS 100,000 to the Wa Fire Service to support its operations, while also fulfilling a long-standing pledge to the Nadowli Kaleo Student Union (NADSU) with an additional GHS 10,000 and a laptop.

The presentation was made during a brief ceremony held at the Wa Regional Library, where the Speaker underscored the importance of the Ghana National Fire Service in protecting lives and property across the Upper West Region.

He noted that the financial support would help enhance the operational capacity of the Wa Fire Service, particularly in areas such as fuel supply and acquisition of essential firefighting equipment.

As part of the event, the Speaker also honoured a prior commitment to NADSU National by donating GHS 10,000 and an HP laptop to support the unionโ€™s academic and administrative work.

Despite the generosity, the Speaker expressed concern over lateness among some students who attended the programme. He described the situation as a reflection of a broader issue of poor time management among the youth.

โ€œI am troubled by what I see today. Some of you could not make it here on time for an event that directly benefits you. This speaks to a broader challenge of punctuality and discipline among our youth,โ€ he said.
โ€œTime is the most valuable resource you have. If you do not master it now, the future will be unforgiving.โ€

He urged students to cultivate discipline and respect for time, emphasizing that punctuality is a key ingredient for success in all spheres of life.

Leadership of NADSU National expressed appreciation for the support and pledged to improve punctuality in future engagements.

The Wa Fire Service Commander also commended the Speaker for the donation, stating that the funds would significantly boost emergency response efforts in the region.

The ceremony concluded with a call for collective responsibility in national development, with the Speaker stressing discipline, accountability, and commitment as essential values for progress.
