Tensions have surfaced within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Wa Central after the constituency chairman, Alhaji Issahaku Famina, allegedly turned down a GH¢40,000 donation from party financier and businessman Alhaji Alhassan Gbangu.
The funds were reportedly earmarked to assist branch executives in purchasing nomination forms ahead of internal party processes. According to party sources, the donation was redirected to the coordinated chairman, Mr. Salifu Mumuni — popularly known as Nba Oli Vip — after Alhaji Famina declined to accept it.

Mr. Mumuni confirmed receipt of the money and said it has since been disbursed to coordinators across the Wa Municipality. He expressed gratitude to Alhaji Gbangu for what he described as a timely intervention.
“We appreciate Alhaji Gbangu for reaching out to us at this crucial hour. The support will ease the burden on our branch executives who were struggling to raise funds for their forms,” Mr. Mumuni said.
Several coordinators who received portions of the money also thanked the donor, noting that the gesture would strengthen grassroots participation in upcoming party activities.

However, Mr. Mumuni did not hide his disappointment with the constituency chairman’s decision to reject the donation. He cautioned that such actions risk creating disunity within the party’s local structures.
“As leaders, we are expected to put the interest of the party and its members first. Turning down support meant for branch executives does not display leadership, and this kind of action can bring disunity to the party in the municipality,” he stated.
