The Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, has issued a firm directive to contractors involved in the construction of the Upper West 24-Hour Economy Markets, emphasizing the critical importance of using high-quality materials to ensure the project’s durability and safety. Speaking during the contract signing ceremony for the initiative, which involves Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Hon.Puozuing underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to maintaining standards.

He described the project as a cornerstone of the region’s economic development strategy, aimed at boosting trade, creating employment opportunities, and positioning Wa as a vibrant commercial hub in northern Ghana. The Minister warned that the use of substandard construction materials would jeopardize the investment, endanger traders and patrons, and ultimately undermine the project’s long-term viability.

To safeguard the integrity of the development, Minister Puozuing tasked engineers and site supervisors with rigorous monitoring of construction activities. He also called on MMDCEs, contractors, and community members to collaborate closely to ensure the project’s timely completion.

Once finished, the facility is expected to offer modern trading spaces, improved storage facilities, and enhanced conditions for round-the-clock economic activities. The Regional Coordinating Council has assured continued oversight to ensure adherence to specifications and value for money. Residents are also encouraged to report any substandard work to facilitate smooth execution of the project, which promises to transform Wa into a bustling center of commerce.
