The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has proactively gone out to some major shops in Wa to confiscate Unregistered Drinks including canned Malt produced in Nigeria and Brought into the country for onward sale in Markets located in the Upper West Region.

The influx of Unregistered drink products have prosed not only financial losses but health risks to consumers. Reports were submitted Upper West Regional Offices to Ghana Standards Authority, Ghana Revenue Authority, Upper West Regional Coordinating Council and the Food and Drugs Authority on Friday 22nd May 2026.

After the Reports were submitted, Only the Ghana Revenue Authority were seen taken necessary Actions about the Unregistered Drinks found within the Spheres of Upper West Region.

Some shops in Kambali, Duori were visited by a Team from the Ghana Revenue Authority according to reliable sources close to Upper West Media Team and several Unregistered Drinks including Canned Malt produced in Nigeria were seized. However Lacasera wasn’t seized despite not having the GRA Label on it.

The Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Standards Authority and Upper West Regional Coordinating Council have been Urged to be proactive to these developments in order to prevent unauthorized drills from flooding the Upper West Region.
