Dr. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin Declares Bid for NPP National Treasurer Position.

Chartered accountant and former Wa Municipal Chief Executive Dr. Issahaku Tahiru Moomim on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, has announced his intention to contest for the position of National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party when nominations are opened.
In an interview with The Voiceless today, Dr. Issahaku said his decision is driven by a desire to apply his financial and public sector experience to strengthen the party’s finances and organizational capacity ahead of future elections.
Vast Public & Financial Sector Experience
Dr. Tahiru served as MCE for the Wa Municipal Assembly for eight years and was the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Wa Central in both 2012 and 2016.
He previously worked as an accountant at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department and the Ghana Revenue Authority, and also served as Head of Finance at the Ghana Health Service. He currently works as an International Business Agent, managing financial transactions for organizations and clients across the country, including the Ashanti Region.
“Corporate Experience for NPP Finances”
Dr. Tahiru told The Voiceless that his expertise in fundraising, business networking, investment principles, and Public Financial Management Laws positions him well for the treasurer role.
“I understand the nuances in managing the finances of entities, having worked as MCE and as head of the constituency campaign team for NPP in Wa Central in 2012,” he said. “I bring direct industry experience and a profound knowledge of financial regulations to bear on the fortunes of the NPP.”
He added that if elected, he will focus on building transparent financial systems, expanding the party’s fundraising base, and ensuring accountability in resource management.
