The District Magistrate Court and more than 40 shops are set to be demolished to make way for the government’s flagship 24-hour market project.

Over the past few days, affected shop owners have been removing roofing sheets, shelves and other valuables, while VRA officials have disconnected electricity to the shops.

Some traders say they have been left stranded, with the high cost of renting alternative shops making relocation difficult.

For several months Two prolific institutions have been demolished including a School in Wa Known as Tendamba Primary School by Wa Metropolitan Assembly in June 2026.

The demolition was to pave way for a 24-Hour Economy Market Project, there were fierce resistance for several months with the issue forwarded to the Wa High Court for Deliberation, however it was later transmitted to the Wa Naa’s Palace for an out of court settlement with an amicable conclusion settled on.

Students of Tendamba Primary School were relocated to a new academic environment close to Nuriya Basic School within Sukpayiri Electoral Area by the Wa Metropolitan Assembly.
