Fire razed a Dormitory Block of Wa Islamic Senior High School Today, 2nd August 2026, this is the the third time fire has caused havoc in the School in 6 Years.

Upper West Media Team visited the School at about 11am on 3rd of August 2026 and confirmed the incident, the fire begun when the students went for evening classes according to some sources in the campus, several properties were destroyed including clothes, books, food items. Some students were permitted to go home and prepare to return and continue with their studies.

Some close sources revealed that supervision and monitoring of students and infrastructure in the school has been challenging because only seven out of about one hundred and twenty staff residents a distant away from the school in areas such as Wa, Busa. The source urged government to improve infrastructure including building more Teacher bungalows to enhance monitoring and supervision of students and their activities.

Meanwhile the Ghana National Fire Service is yet to release a statement on what caused the fire outbreak.

It can be recalled that in February 2020, a committee was set to investigate the incessant fire disasters at Wa Islamic SHS but a comprehensive report is yet to be released by the Committee till another disaster Occured.
