A Cyclist by Name Tiekan Joseph has begun a 6-Day 755km Journey from Jirapa to Accra as Part of Efforts to:

Campaign  Against Drug Abuse and Call for Wa-Sawla-Wenchi Road to be Fixed.

His Travel begin early hours, Morning 7am of 4th August 2026 and by 2pm he was at Gindabour in the Savannah Region. He is expected to get there on 10th of August 2026 with situations being normal And averagely should cover a distance of 125km each Day. An average Bicycle rider is able to cover a distance of 50km per day on flat lands.

The Paramount Chief of Jirapa Traditional Area, Naa Dinaa Donglabong Ganaa III endorsed his bold initiative expressing optimism that the step is a loud voice that seeks to draw the attention of stakeholders to the growing concerns of the Region.

I leave you, Tiekan Joseph, with the blessings of our ancestors, the gods of our land, and God Almighty as you embark on this noble journey and pursue your chosen mission.

I call on all sons and daughters of the Jirapa Municipality, as well as the entire Upper West Region, wherever they may be across the country and beyond, to rally behind him with every form of support necessary to ensure the success of this important cause.

Drug abuse is on the rise—not only in the Jirapa Municipality, but across the Upper West Region and Ghana as a whole. This is a threat to our future, and the responsibility to confront it rests with all of us. It is far better to prevent this menace from escalating than to wait until it reaches crisis proportions.

It is in this spirit that I wholeheartedly endorse and support Mr. Tiekan Joseph, my subject, who has courageously volunteered himself to champion the fight against drug abuse by riding from Jirapa to Accra. His selfless commitment deserves our collective encouragement, prayers, and practical support.

At the same time, I respectfully appeal to the Government and all relevant authorities to expedite work on the Wenchi–Hamile trunk road, particularly the Big Bush stretch. This strategic road is vital to the economic and social development of our people. I urge the contractor to increase the pace of work so that this long-awaited project can be completed and delivered to the benefit of our communities.

Together, through unity, shared responsibility, and purposeful action, we can build a healthier, safer, and more prosperous Jirapa Municipality and Upper West Region for generations to come.
