The upper West Regional Police Command in a letter dated 6th August 2026 has secured conviction for two persons for theft. Eric Salia, aged 36 years and Nasiru Muftawu, aged 20 years were sentenced to 12 Years and 10 Years Respectively..

Police Statement

1. The Upper West Regional Police Command has secured significant custodial sentences against two individuals convicted in separate stealing-related crimes.
2. Nasiru Muftawu, aged 20 years was arrested by the Police on Saturday, July 11, 2026 through intelligence-led investigations for committing series of motorbike thefts in various parts of the region. He was subsequently charged and tried at the Wa Circuit Court presided over His Honour Samuel Boafo Amewuho. On Wednesday, August 5, 2026 after full trial, he was convicted and sentenced to twelve (12) years imprisonment In Hard Labour.
3. In a separate incident, Eric Salia, aged 36 years was arrested on Sunday, July 26, 2026, after unlawfully breaking into a residential accommodation of a public officer and stealing valuable personal belongings. He was also charged, tried and convicted by the same court to ten (10) years imprisonment In Hard Labour.
4. The Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to creating a safe, secure, and conducive environment for all law-abiding residents of the Upper West Region. It assures the public that it will continue to pursue criminals relentlessly and bring offenders to justice.
