Chairman of Northwest Soya Bean Value Chain Association and CEO of UB Global Company Ltd, Mr. Randy Haile Selasi Snr has revealed that, Several Fertilizer Dealers from Ghana have been chased out of Leo in Neighboring Burkina Faso by some competitors from the area.

Speaking to Upper West Media Team on the 29th July 2026, he explained that the act, despite being a move to protect local Businesses goes against the ECOWAS Policy that permits free trade of legitimate goods Accross member countries.

He called for stakeholders to intervene in order for the practice not to mar the good relationship between people of Upper West in Ghana and proles in Leo within Burkina Faso.

“Some traders of fertilizer were chased out of Leo in Burkina Faso recently, a negative practice that is affecting International business, some shops of Ghanaians were locked whilst others were prevented from selling fertilizer from Ghana”.
