A Teacher Cum Politician by Name Mushinat Jafar from the Upper West Region on Tuesday , 18th – August 2026, strongly defended a statement made by Mistress of Ghana’s National Science and Maths Quiz Program on TV3 about Marriage.

In the Statement, Prof Elsie Effah Kaufman. Indicated that, not every woman has to be a wife, a statement that has drawn attention of several individuals in the country including the youth.

There has been a growing debate about why several marriages are hitting the rock of late with several Ghanaians hesitant on getting into marriage due to either trauma, financial constraints and many other private reasons.

The Statement triggered the reaction of a popular socialist by name Mushinat Jafar who indicted that it was easy for women to get into marriages because men are very cheap in the system.

“Every woman who wants to be a wife can be a wife.
Men are very cheap” Mushinat Stated.

According to the Ghana Statistical Service, 2021 Population and Housing Census, the sex ratio is 97 men for every 100 women. Females make up 50.7% (15,631,579) and males make up 49.3% (15,200,440) of the total population.
