The Municipal Chief Executive of Nandom in the Upper West Region has opposed trending claims that the 24-Hour Economy Market Project of Nandom is not being given the needed attention.

He released a statement on the 26th of August 2026 countering a publicity from a Journalist in Nandom by Name Mohammed Abdulai calling for government to give the project the necessary attention it needs. In a statement by Mohammed Abdulai, he stated.

It has been over a month since more than 40 shop operators at the Nandom old market were asked to vacate their shops to make way for the government’s 24-hour market project.

The traders have moved, and the District Magistrate Court has also being relocated to a temporary facility.

However, there is still no visible construction activity at the site.

Affected traders and residents are now asking: When will work begin?

Some residents also believe the existing Nandom market could have accommodated the project without displacing traders and public institutions.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Ziniel issued a statement giving an assurance that, the project isn’t sidelined.

“my last engagement with the consultant on the project was on Friday last week. He promised me the contractor was going to come to site this week. I will continue to follow up on it until the contractor comes to site.
