The Off Grid Solar Home System has kicked started in five Districts within the Upper West Region including the Nadowli-Kaleo District according to Hon. Mary Haruna, the DCE for Nadowli-Kaleo District.

Speaking to Some Community Members in Siiru within the District on Tuesday, 25th August 2026, she indicated that the Solar systems are cost effective and would have 3 Years Warranty from the Company that will install them.

In Upper West Region five Districts are to benefit from the Off Grid Solar Home System initiative including Nandom, Lawra, Nadowli-Kaleo, Wa East and Wa West District, The DCE Revealed.

She urged residents to be ready for the New System of Electricity Access adding that several households in cities are ready for the new system due to cost effectiveness.

Here’s what it means:

Government institutions, including schools, CHPS compounds, and teachers’ bungalows will receive a free 3kW solar system. This is powerful enough to run air conditioners and refrigerators.

Households will benefit from an 80W solar kit complete with a TV, radio, torchlight, fan, and charging system.
