As the Race for position of NDC Flag bearer is set to commence, some vibrant youth of The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Popularly Known as Friends of Honourable Eric Opoku in the Upper West Region have shared some banners and flyers of The Incumbent Agric Minister Accross some parts of the Upper West Region expressing interest in supporting him in Becoming the Next Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The posts Upper West Media Team Spotted Late hours of Monday, 31st August 2026 at The Wa Municipal Hospital Traffic Light and Along the JJ Rawlings Highway were with Information as Follows:

“We Want Eric Opoku The Next NDC Flagbearer for 2028”

The banner also defined Dr Eric Opoku as a Person with Leadership Qualities, Experience in Politics and a result oriented person adding that he can provide the right leadership for The Next Ghana’s Chapter.

Dr Opoku was also described as The Game Changer for 2028 with Unity in Diversity, Economic Growth, Jobs and Employment, Integrity and Service.

Dr Eric Opoku is currently the Minsiter for Food and Agriculture and Serves as Member of Parliament for Asunafo South Constituency in the Ahafo Region.

He also Served as then Brong Ahafo Regional Minister from 16 July 2014 – 6 January 2017.

• Brong Ahafo Regional Minister – 11 March 2012 – 14 February 2013

On 9 July 2026 the Minister announced that the government is implementing initiatives as part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s flagship programme called Ghana programme and under the sub-programme known as Feed the Industry.

The programme is designed to increase food production, jobs and sustainable food security. This will be done by linking farmers to agro-processing industries to bridge the gap of farm products not getting to the industries.

The programme as stated by Mr. Opoku, is creating this system for guarantee for both farmers and buyers so that farmers will produce based on industry demand.[8]

The minister has also announced that the government has distributed about 1500 bags of fertilisers to each constituency across the country to support farmers to boost production during this farming season. This was announced during the meeting with the Parliament Assurance Committee on Thursday, 9 July 2026.
