The Overlord of Waala Traditional Area has placed an Indefinite Ban on the Felling of Shea Trees for Charcoal and Other Economic Activities in the Waala Traditional Area.
He made the declaration through the Public Affairs Unit of the Palace during the climax of Dumba Festival 2026, which took place on the 30th of August.

Speaking to the Masses, Mr. Ahmed Abubakari Saanyuo stated that the Wa Naa Has Placed a Ban on Harvesting Live She’s Trees for Economic Gains adding that those who go contrary will he sanctioned, the Palace Urged people to report individuals who go against the Directive.
“Wa Naa has placed a Ban on the Felling of Shea Trees, anyone found cutting down a Shea Tree will be Sanctioned by the Palace, let this be Known to all.”
The shea tree is a traditional African food plant found mostly in the Savannah Stretch of Ghana. It produces Shea Fruits and Nuts Mostly during the rainy Seasons in May. It’s shea Nuts are used for Shea Butter which is used in Industries to produce Pomade and Other Ointments.
