MP FOR SISSALA WEST CALLS FOR CALM FOLLOWING BUO–TIWII COMMUNITY LAND DISPUTE

I am deeply saddened and concerned by reports of a land-related dispute between the Buo and Tiwii communities in the Sissala West District earlier today, Sunday, 27th September 2026. Tragically, the incident has claimed two lives and left others injured.
My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and all those affected by this unfortunate incident. On behalf of the people of Sissala West and in my capacity as Member of Parliament for the Constituency, I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I also wish all those who sustained injuries a speedy and full recovery.

I have been informed that the Regional Security Council and the District Security Council have deployed personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces to the affected communities to help restore and maintain calm while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
I urge all residents of Buo, Tiwii and neighbouring communities to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from any acts of retaliation, provocation, or violence. At this difficult moment, we must resist actions that could further escalate tensions and result in additional loss of lives and destruction of property.

As a son of both communities, I appeal to our chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, women and all stakeholders to use their influence to promote peace and prevent further escalation. Whatever differences exist between us, no land or boundary dispute is worth the loss of another human life.
I further call on all parties and residents to fully cooperate with the security agencies and support their investigations. Anyone with relevant information should make it available to the appropriate authorities to assist in establishing the facts surrounding this unfortunate incident and ensuring that due process is followed.
