Several people in the Wa metropolis of the upper West region have resorted to acquiring plots of land and building in order to secure their investments. Most people indicated that buildings have become resources that bring enough money to their homes for upkeeps and also serves as a business especially when houses are rented to tenants including students, tourists etc at a fee. These are some of the reasons why people have resorted to acquiring of land and building as a form of secure investment.
- ‘Difficult’ Landlords. Several landlords are rigid when it comes to how they give out their rooms, some wouldn’t want you to receive visitors whilst others won’t want you to trade in their house, some other landlords or landladies won’t pay electricity or water bills as far as you’re in their house, sometimes they send you parking when you express concern. People have now chosen to build and gain freedom.
- Securing landed Properties. Houses or plots of land can serve as landed Properties to secure several opportunities including Loans at Banks for Business, travel visa due to the monetary value attached to such Assets. Several people intending to increase their financial value in society have chosen Houses and land as permanently valuable assets.
3.Renting as Business: Some people intend to go into renting or real estate as a business due to the growth rate of the Region. Wa is a Metropolis with a population of 200,672 according to the 2021 population and housing Census, it’s only behind Tamale compared with all 5 Regional Capitals in the North of Ghana. Currently renting a single room in Wa is between Ghc1,000 to Ghc4,000 per Annum.
- Land Business: Several people intend to buy several plots of land and sell them later in the future. Currently a plot of Land Goes for Ghc10,000 and above in some parts of Wa Metropolis.
