Domestic Bursar of Wa Technical Institute, Madam Hawa Batong has been Cleared by Upper West Regional Police Command headed by DCOP Francis Yiribaare after weeks of Investigations.
The Domestic Bursar was Disassociated from Food Diversion Claims by the Upper West Regional Free SHS Coordinator by Name Adamu Dassana in November 2025.
In a Section sighted by the Letter, The feeding Coordinator stormed the abode of the Bursar on the 29th – November – 2026 after a tip off by three persons.

Mr. Adamu Dassana after the tip off went to the Residence of the accused with some police officers and took away some food items including Rice, Mackerel, Margarine, Geoundnut Paste, Maize, Salt, Soap etc.

CPl Agyapong Prince has concluded his investigations and part of the investigation uncovered that the Domestic Bursar’s late Mom, Madam Fati Kojo was into a School feeding program in Zinye Located in the Wa East District from 2017 till 2023 when he passed away, the feeding program was transferred to Her and per the reports she purchased some of the feed for the program and stored them in her house before the contract was terminated in 2025.
Family of the Accused is set to Sue the Free SHS Coordinator for Trespassing without Warrant and Causing fear and Panic with a Weapon.
Statement
BRIEF FACTS: On 29/11/25 Hon. Dasana Adamu who is the Regional
Coordinator of the Free Senior High School/UWR reported a case of stealing of assorted provisions and foodstuffs by Hawa Batong, the Chief Matron of Wa Technical Institute from the warehouse of the Institute. That this information was intercepted by three informants and relayed to him.
- Upon receipt of the information, the complainant led Police to the house of Hawa Batong located at Charkor, suburb of Wa, and the following quantity of the provisions were retrieved and impounded at the Regional CID for investigations to be conducted; rice, sardines, mackerel, milk, tin tomatoes, cooking oil, Maggie cubes, chocolate mix, soap, tom brown, sugar, washing powder, gari, maize, margarine and groundnut paste.
a. During the investigations, the suspect Hawa Batong stated that the impounded items belonged to her late mother Fati Kwadwo who won school feeding programme for Zinye Kindergarten at the Wa East District before she passed on three years ago. She explained that those that belonged to her were for her household use whilst the rest were left-over food items of the deceased mother’s school feeding programme consignments……………
On 13/02/2026, Police confirmed from the Regional School Feeding Secretariat, Wa that Fati Kwadwo was a caterer for the school feeding program from 2017 until her demise in 2023. On 04/03/2026, witness statement was obtained from Mahama Hudi, the Regional Manager of National Food Buffer Stock Company, Wa to ascertain if goods from their company bear unique identification marks. However, he confirmed that their goods are procured from open market and therefore has no unique identifiable marks.
- On 24/03/2026, the case docket was forwarded to the office of Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, Wa for an advice. After a careful study, the Principal State Attorney stated that there was no evidence to substantiate the allegation for prosecution, emphasizing that multitude of suspicions does not make evidence. He therefore advised against prosecution. Consequently the
case is closed as “Andetected”.
