In the Wa Municipality, a total of 3,848 candidates commenced the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) on Monday, May 4. The examination is being held across 12 designated centres within the municipality, marking a significant milestone in the academic calendar.

According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), the examination mobilizes a diverse group of young learners, with 2,075 females and 1,773 males registered to sit for the tests. Mr. Saaka K. Adamu, the Wa Municipal Education Exams Officer, speaking to Info Radio assured stakeholders that comprehensive arrangements have been implemented to facilitate a seamless and orderly examination process. “We have deployed 24 supervisors and 133 invigilators across all centres to uphold the integrity of the exams,” he stated in an interview with Info Radio.

Mr. Adamu expressed confidence in the candidates’ readiness, emphasizing that they have been adequately prepared through thorough training and mock examinations. “The GES has provided all necessary materials and support to ensure our students are well-prepared to excel,” he added.

Alhaji Mujeeb Suleyman, Public Relations Officer of the Wa Municipal Education Directorate, highlighted the extensive preparation efforts undertaken by students, including mock exams and orientation sessions. He reiterated the GES’s zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice, affirming that strict enforcement measures are in place to maintain the integrity of the assessment.
