Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, Mr. Peter Lanchene Toobu has bemoaned the recent decline in quality of Xylophones produced in the Country, he stated that that the decline is a threat to our culture adding that, without Xylophones our funerals will lose their traditional definitions.
“The present poor quality of many Xylophones, is a threat to our culture.
Without a xylophone, Dagara have no funeral.”

He made the statement on his social media wall on Friday, 17th – April – 2026.
According To Mr Da-uri Awonodomo “In the next few years, there will be very few people who can play the xylophones even if we have quality xylophones. These cultural performances are seen as meant for illiterates or traditional believers.”
This was in response to Calls by the Wa West Member of Parliament for Xylophones to be protected.
Mr. Samuel Sograangmen also referred to Trees used in producing Xylophones as Endangered.
“The trees used in the manufacturing of xylophones are now endangered species how will you get quality xylophones?”
