The Upper West Regional Chiefs led by it’s President Kuoro Issaka Kazie Tenjie II, paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Ghana, HE John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, 8th July, 2026.

During the Visit several requests were made to te Presidency for possible solutions to be provided. Kuoro Issaka Kazie Tenjie II appealed for Renovation of Office of Upper West Regional House of Chiefs and also appealed for the Swift completion of Wa-Sawla-Wenchi Road project.

President Mahama Received the Dignitaries and assured that the Wa-Sawla-Wenchi Road will be asphalted. He added that works are ongoing to Commence with the New Wa Airport Project.

The President also assured of Rehabilitation of The Office of Regional House of Chiefs and provision of vehicles for mobility.

Statement

We are scoping phase two of the program to start next year. And I want to assure you, some of the roads that have not yet been captured are being captured in the phase two of the big push. So currently, the road from Sawla Tuna through Wa and actually starts from Wenchi, Wenchi to Bamboi to Bole, and then to Tuna, to Sawla, Tuna, and then to Wa.

That whole stretch is being re-engineered. And this time it’s going to be an asphaltic concrete road, not a bituminous surface road. And then also the road linking WA to Hamile to Burkina Faso is also going to be under reconstruction.

We’re also linking Wa through Han, Tumu to Navrongo and to Bolgatanga. It’s currently been awarded to different contractors who are busy….
