The Upper West Regional Minister Charles Lwanga Pouzing Esq has officially handed over a site in Gwollu for the construction of an ultra-modern Farmer Mechanisation Centre aimed at boosting agricultural productivity in the Sisaala West District.

The brief ceremony brought together members of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), the contractor (Ronor Global Construction Limited), the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sisaala West, Hon. Fuseini Abudu Gbene, and the Paramount Chief of the Gwollu Traditional Area, along with his sub-chiefs.

Speaking at the event, the Regional Minister revealed that out of the limited slots available, only one mechanisation centre was allocated to the entire Upper West Region. He noted that the decision to site the project in Sisaala West underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to the development of the area.

The National Coordinator for the Feed Ghana project in charge of Farmer Mechanisation Centres, Mr. Nuhu Peter, explained that the facility would serve as a “one-stop centre” designed to address the diverse agricultural needs of local farmers.

According to Mr. Peter, the centre will house essential machinery and inputs, including tractors, harrows, and fertilisers. It will also feature training centres and agricultural extension officers, aligning with the President’s vision to modernise farming across the country. He added that the contractor, Ronor Global Construction Limited, is expected to immediately mobilise to the site and commence preliminary work ahead of an official sod-cutting ceremony by the President and the Minister for Food and Agriculture.

Expressing his gratitude, the Paramount Chief of Gwollu, Kuoro Limann, announced that the traditional council had allocated 4 hectares of land for the project, adding that more land would be made available if the scope of the project expands.

On his part, the DCE, Hon. Fuseini Abudu Gbene, thanked the Regional Minister and his entourage for the intervention. He appealed for more developmental projects to be directed to the district, highlighting that the hard work and lobbying efforts of the local Member of Parliament (MP) played a pivotal role in securing the region’s sole mechanisation centre for Gwollu.
