The Upper West Division of Ghana Police Service headed by DCOP Aboagye Nyarko have arrested over 30 people for not adhering to the covid-19 protocols. This took place on the 4th of February 2021.

The Arrests were Made on some Major Roads and Markets in Wa.

According to the the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Gideon Ohene Boateng, suspects weren’t in nose mask and as directed by the President on his recent address to the Nation on the 31st of January 2021, he directed that strict enforcement of the protocols should be instilled by the security agencies as the numbers keep increasing.

The Suspects were put before the office of the CID for interrogation whilst in the process they were educated on the need to wear the masks.

Upper West Region has 62 Active cases and 188 total number of cases recorded, 126 people have been discharged.

Some residents have however questioned why the arrested persons were left without directing them to observe social distancing.
