Residents of Polee in the Tanina Electoral Area of Wa West District have voiced strong frustration over the community’s prolonged lack of electricity, good roads, and essential social amenities.
The absence of electricity has severely impacted daily life, especially for households and businesses that rely on power. One resident highlighted the costly burden of purchasing and charging power banks to keep mobile phones operational, attributing the community’s plight to years of neglect by successive governments. The call for urgent connection to the national electricity grid is growing louder.
In response, Mahama Fatahu, the Assembly Member for Tanina Electoral Area, acknowledged the electricity deficit as a critical challenge. He revealed that Polee is now included in a rural electrification project aimed at extending power to underserved communities.
Regarding the poor condition of local roads, Mr. Fatahu confirmed that the District Assembly has prioritized the rehabilitation of Polee road and several others under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), signaling hope for improved infrastructure soon.
The community’s appeal underscores the pressing need for accelerated development to improve living conditions in Polee.
